SIGNS & MIRACLES - Jesus in Jakarta

Christian Indonesians are ecstatic about a miracle in the capital city, Jakarta, where thousands are flocking to see an image of Jesus on an outside wall of a house. According to the faithful the image is of Jesus stretching out his hands in a gesture of welcome or blessing. According to some reports the
image was first seen on an inside wall but it subsequently moved to an outside wall.

Those who gather to see it say that an image of an older-looking, whitehaired Jesus-like figure appears from time to time next to the image of Jesus. The area around the house is rapidly becoming a place of prayer. People climb trees and children are lifted onto parents' shoulders to see the image.
The owner of the house is a Muslim who is quite untroubled by the fact that the faithful claim they can see an image of Jesus on his home, but he finds
the prayer services which go on through the night rather disturbing.

Sociologists trying to explain the event and the devout reaction of people flocking to see it point to an ancient Indonesian legend about the coming of
a just Prince or Princess to save the people in a time of chaos. The woman who discovered the image, a local shopkeeper, urges all who come to "open their hearts".
